THAT About?

In order to save energy, our furnace is turned off 10-14 days each month. Days when the furnace is on are called HOT days. Days when the furnace is off are the GREEN days.

 

 

 

Glass Blowing Program

Our accelerated Fun with Hot Glass program teaches basic glass blowing skills and prepares students to work independently in our studio. We have a series of three classes, followed by instructor-supported studio time. Students will make two or more finished pieces in each class.

Fun with Hot Glass
1-day Beginner Glassblowing Workshop

This in-depth workshop stresses safety and team work. Students will get hands-on experience in glass blowing techniques such as picking up color on the marver, blowing, centering glass, and using the blocks, paddles and jacks. Students will make 2 objects that will be available for pick up the following day.

NEW!! More Fun with Hot Glass
In this all-day follow up workshop, students will explore creating new forms and learn additional techniques such as using gravity to manipulate hot glass and creating waves. Prerequisite: Fun with Hot Glass

New! Hot Glass Prep School
After completing the two Fun with Hot Glass courses, students will master the basic skills required to work independently in our studio: gathering, puntying, adding bits and more. Safety review, operation of equipment and tool care.

Instructor Supported Studio Time

starting September 2010 - times TBA

Beginning students who have completed the above courses & passed a competency test will be eligible to rent studio time during designated instructor-supported hours. Instructor approval and IAC membership required. Prep School may be repeated as needed.
