Glass Fusing Program

INTRODUCTION TO GLASS FUSION
Week Nights - Dates & Times TBA

This four-hour workshop begins with a discussion on the do's and dont's of glass fusion. Including the many types of fusible glass, glass kilns, firing schedules, etc. What does "coefficiency of expansion" mean? Then students will design and create an eight-inch glass disk using several layers of opalescent and transparent glasses, frits, powders, confetti and stringers as design elements. By the end of the workshop, pieces will be ready to be fired in the kiln and finished work can be picked up in about a week. All tools and materials provided. No prior glass working experience necessary.

DICHROIC GLASS JEWELRY

In this four-hour workshop, students will learn how to make beautiful fused glass cabochons that can then be turned into wearable works of art. You will learn the basics of cutting, layering and designing, using metal infusions and dichroic glass. Workshop will also include an in-depth discussion on the do's and don'ts of glass fusion and the how-tos of firing in a glass kiln. No prior glass working experience necessary.

KILN-FORMED GLASS
Two days - dates & times TBA

Let's take it to another dimension! This two-day workshop includes a lecture on the techniques of fusing and kiln-forming art glass while teaching simple to intricate cutting techniques, layering and assembly, mold preparation and the do's and dont's of kiln-forming. Students will create a 12-inch fused glass panel using layers of colored glass, powders, frits, confetting and stringers as design elements. Then we will prepare molds to slump, or drape, our pieces into you
