INTRODUCTION TO GLASS FUSION

This four-hour workshop begins with a discussion on the do's and dont's of glass fusion. Including the many types of fusible glass, glass kilns, firing schedules, etc. What does "coefficiency of expansion" mean? Then students will design and create an eight-inch glass disk using several layers of opalescent and transparent glasses, frits, powders, confetti and stringers as design elements. By the end of the workshop, pieces will be ready to be fired in the kiln and finished work can be picked up in about a week. All tools and materials provided. No prior glass working experience necessary.
