CANCELLATION
POLICY

If minimum enrollment is not met, a class will be cancelled. Students will be notified in advance and students will be given an opportunity to transfer to another class. If another class is not available, a full refund will be issued.

If a student needs to cancel a registration and cancellation is received 30 days prior to the class start date, you will receive a full refund less the $50 registration fee. If cancellation is received less than 30 days but at least 7 days prior to the class start date, IAC will refund 50% of the class cost less the registration fee. There is no refund for cancellations received less than 7 days before the class start date.

Gift Certificates
The same cancellation policy applies to payments made via gift certificate.

 

 

 

 

Introduction to Glassblowing

Douglas Taylor Jr.: "Here is a chance to work with a very enthusiastic glass blower and kid friendly teacher!!! Christian is highly motivated and an excellent glass blower! So take a class and learn from a talented and fun guy!!"

In this course, students will get to know glass as an artistic medium by making the fundamental shapes
to basic blown forms: a ball, a cylinder, a bowl, and a plate. Students will create one piece each week. Course will also focus on teamwork and assistantship, concluding with an individual study session.

week 1 : Orientation to hot shop, tools, and safety followed by simple demonstration.
Students make a frit paperweight

week 2 : Focus on gathering, basic shaping, and learn to blow a round ball.

week 3 : Learn additional shaping methods and blow a cylinder. Begin to emphasize
assistantship.

week 4 : Learn to make a simple bowl. Build on assisting skills.

week 5 : Learn to make a plate.

week 6 : Individual study. Students design and plan a piece of their choice.

Materials and tools supplied: Proper attire would be pants, comfortable long sleeve shirt, glasses with UV
lenses (most sunglasses will do), and comfortable, close-toed shoes. Please wear natural fibers (cotton) as synthetic fibers can melt near high temperatures.
